This post returns to the same start-up company to talk about a product related to the implementation of this new technology, which they are about to release onto the market. The product is an LED driver which will completely change our experience to date of this lighting system.

What Is an LED Driver?

As FINsix explains on its website, LEDs are not like incandescent lamps. They need direct current (DC) in order to work, just like our portable devices. This is the function of the driver: a power converter which provides the DC current, and controls and regulates the light’s intensity.

The LED driver plays a fundamental role in all aspects of this type of lighting and affects its lifetime and cost.

The Smallest, Most Advanced LED Driver in the World

FINsix has developed the smallest, most advanced LED driver in the world. Its innovative circuit, which reduces the size of the power electronics, means that this illumination system consumes five times less energy.

FINsix’s driver uses a patented technology which regulates the light output and therefore offers a highly superior dimming control.

The product is designed in such a way that it is compatible with existing infrastructures: with magnetic as well as electronic transformers. Furthermore, the engineers have managed to eliminate the blinking, noise, instability and other inconveniences presented by the use of LEDs to date.

Unlike traditional power electronics, the new driver does not need inductors, transformers or electrolyte capacitors. It is produced using a no-touch manufacturing process which avoids wear-out mechanisms that cause early failure.

FINsix will launch complete driver modules so that lighting equipment manufacturers can reduce their time-to-market and guarantee high performance.

Inmesol LED Lighting Towers

Here at Inmesol we are particularly interested in this news as we use LED lamps in our ‘autonomous’ lighting towers as well as in our lighting towers for emergency situations, designed to be transported on roads and motorways at high speed.

FINsix has developed the smallest, most advanced LED driver in the world.
