The UEA CRU is a prestigious scientific organisation which compiles data on temperatures worldwide. In fact, theirs is one of the most widely used datasets.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2071\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/new-application-visualise-evolution-climate-change.jpg\" alt=\"evolucion-cambio-climatico-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"357\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>The team participating in the project wanted all <strong>the information on the climate<\/strong> from recent decades <strong>and on climate change<\/strong> to be as <strong>accessible and transparent<\/strong> as possible. The <strong>application<\/strong> is <strong>free<\/strong>, <strong>interactive<\/strong> and <strong>easy to use<\/strong>. One can move around the whole world, zoom in on more than <strong>6,000 weather stations<\/strong>, see <strong>monthly, seasonal and annual temperature data<\/strong>, and <strong>consult the evolution<\/strong> of climate change in a specific area. \u201cThe beauty of using Google Earth is that you can instantly see where the weather stations are, zoom in on specific countries, and see station datasets much more clearly,\u201d states Tim Osborn from UEA\u2019s Climate Research Unit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2072 lazyload\" data-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/1_new-application-visualise-evolution-climate-change.jpg\" alt=\"evolucion-cambio-climatico-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"357\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/357;\"><\/p>\n<h3>How Does It Work?<\/h3>\n<p>To navigate around the map and consult the data, first <strong>Google Earth<\/strong> and then the <strong>new application<\/strong> must be <strong>installed<\/strong> (and executed) on our computer. We can see that the map is divided into <strong>boxes of 5<\/strong><strong>\u00b0<\/strong><strong> latitude and longitude<\/strong>. The red and green checkerboard indicates the areas on Earth which have data available (the majority of the surface).
