Torre de agua masiva<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>These gigantic <strong>water<\/strong> reservoirs maintain a constant pressure in the distribution systems, either for domestic consumption (drinking water), for industrial consumption, or to store emergency water for fire protection (non-drinking water).<\/p>\n<p>As they are <strong>raised<\/strong> reservoirs, the towers can supply water even during <strong>power outages<\/strong>, as they have <strong>potential energy<\/strong> produced by the water elevation that is used to push it through domestic and industrial distribution systems. However, the supply cannot last for long without power, as a <strong>pump<\/strong> is usually required to <strong>refill<\/strong> the tower.<\/p>\n<p>The tower also acts as a reservoir to help provide water during <strong>peak usage times<\/strong> that are typically during <strong>daytime hours<\/strong>.
