In February 2014, the city of Sochi was home to the XXII Olympic Winter Games<\/strong>, the first to be held in the Russian Federation. As is customary in these international sporting events, preparations for the Games required the construction of new infrastructures<\/strong>, facilities for which the different contractors trusted in Inmesol<\/strong> as the supplier of generator sets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Olympic Park<\/h3>\n

The Olympic Park was built in the district of Adler, along the shore of the Black Sea. The enclosure housed the Olympic Stadium \u2013 in which the opening and closing ceremonies were held -, the Bolshoy Ice Dome, the Shayba Arena, the Iceberg Skating Palace, the Adler Arena and the Ice Cube Curling Centre. The image below shows one of our 1400 kVA generator sets<\/strong> during the construction phase.<\/p>\n

Generator Set in the Skating Centre<\/h3>\n

Another of our generator sets<\/strong> was located in the Adler Arena<\/strong>, a facility also known as the Olympic Oval Skating Centre<\/strong> \u2013 its former name \u2013 and home to the speed skating competitions. The building forms part of the Olympic Park and is very close to the Stadium. The generator set<\/strong> is from the standby range<\/strong> and has a power of 1200 kVA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Generator Set for the Data Centre<\/h3>\n

Nowadays telecommunications<\/strong> are vital in the Olympic Games. The Rostelecom Group \u2013 sector leader in Russia \u2013 was responsible for the entire telecommunications infrastructure at Sochi 2014 and for guaranteeing the reliability of the information systems. The image below shows a 275 kVA generator set<\/strong> installed in one of the data centres.<\/p>\n

Hospital Centres<\/h3>\n

The Games had approximately 1,300 restroom facilities, 39 health centres and seven hospitals, including an emergency medical unit. The photograph below shows one of these hospital centres, in which two 1010 kVA generator sets<\/strong> were installed.<\/p>\n
