What is a power generator?
A power generator is a machine consisting of an internal combustion diesel engine which, by means of an alternator, converts mechanical energy into electrical energy through an alternating current. In other words, a power generator is a generator of electrical energy.
One essential part of a power generator is the distribution board, which consists of a control and protection unit that acts as the engine’s intelligent component, managing its functioning and providing information concerning the engine, the alternator, the mains and the load.
Types of Power Generators
There is a wide range of power generators. A first classification may be made according to the power they are able to generate. Next, there is the soundproof version and the open version. The former type is made for use in open-air spaces while the latter is designed for use inside a shelter or building.
Soundproof power generators must be made in such a way that they are well protected against inclement weather and also with a view to ensuring the maximum degree of acoustic insulation, so as to avoid irritating noise. Hence, it is of the utmost importance that the canopy of the generator is both strong and resistant.
Inmesol Canopy Makes All the Difference
INMESOL has been making generator canopies for 28 years, always taking these requirements into account. We use a continuous production system in which the steel sheet (always top quality) is treated with machining processes performed by computer numerical controlled machine tools. We therefore obtain perfect pieces in terms of both form and dimension. This means that we can solder them with great precision using a spot welding robot.
All the series of pieces comprising Inmesol canopies are painted separately¸including the joining surfaces, so as to avoid subsequent rusting. The process is similar to that used by the automobile industry. Furthermore, all the pieces are subjected to a meticulous cleaning process and, once dried, they are moved to a powder coating cabin for polymerisation or firing, the final phase of the process.
Inmesol canopies are conceived in such a way that they require few external nuts and bolts. This feature, together with their rounded edges, makes them very strong so that they can house generator sets from 6 to 1000 kVA. Moreover, their design and the rock wool we use as soundproofing material ensure that these are the most silent canopies on the market.
