The Mobile World Congress (MWC) will be held from 24th to 27th February in Barcelona (Spain), the most important event in the mobile wireless communications sector.

At the congress’ 9th edition, there will be over 1,800 exhibitors. As it does every year, the congress will provide the framework for industry leaders to meet with representatives from other segments in the ICT sector and the developers. It also boasts the highest concentration of presentations of the latest advances in mobile telephones.
The Founder of Facebook Will Be The Star Speaker at WMC
Engineers, scientists, investors and powerful company executives will come together in a space of 98,000 square metres at the Fira Barcelona in L’Hospitalet. The leaders of the main companies from the world of mobiles, such as AT&T, IBM, Isis, Raspberry Pi Foundation and Viacom, will participate in the 44 sessions.
Among the 240 speakers in the programme, there is great excitement about IBM president, Virginia Rometty; the CEO of WhatsApp, Jan Koum; and Facebook founder and president, Mark Zuckerberg. 80 ministers and heads of state have also confirmed their attendance.
The Key Conferences Will Be Broadcast Live on the Internet
The organisation has issued a press release stating that the keynote speeches from the Mobile World Congress will be streamed live on the Internet for visitors on the premises and for internauts via the Mobile World Live portal.

What New Technologies Will Be Presented?
Last year the great novelty was the 4G broadband using LTE technology. According to the experts, this year the surprise of the congress will be provided by developments in portable devices connected to the Internet designed to improve our daily lives and our health: watches, glasses, watches, etc.
The MWC is also expected to be the setting for the presentation of the highly anticipated Galaxy S5, the new smartphone from Samsung which will incorporate an iris scanner and which can be synchronised with the latest smartwatch from the company.

Economic Impact
According to an independent report commissioned by the GSMA, the largest association in the mobile industry and the organisers of this event, the Mobile World Congress will have an economic impact of 356 million euros this year.
The ‘Connected City’ Exhibition
The city will hold an exhibition which shows how mobile technology can be of great practical use to us thanks to the applications developed for the home, our health, our cars, education, sales, etc.
‘Connected City’ includes contributions from AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, KT Corp. and Vodafone, as well as companies including Accenture, Ericsson, General Motors, Huawei, Samsung and Synchronoss Technologies.
‘The Mobile World Hub’ and Parallel Events
This centre is the headquarters for Mobile World Capital and GSMA in Barcelona, and a meeting place for the ITC industry and companies and organisations from other related sectors.
Its purpose is to consolidate the city of Barcelona as a global ‘hub’ for mobile solutions which will generate business opportunities, targeted services, and a better quality of life for its citizens, as well as promoting learning.
Mobile World Capital is organising “4 Years From Now,” an event for innovation and entrepreneurs in mobile technology, which will take place at the same time as the congress. It will be held from 24th to 26th February at the Fira Montjuic site and will include sessions, workshops, talks and meetings with experts.
Similarly, for the seventh consecutive year and presented by Wireless Industry Partnership and the GSMA, WIPJam returns. They will organise a four-day DEVCON and a HACKATHON.
