Since April 2013, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, MINUSMA, is working in collaboration with the transitional local authorities to stabilize the situation in the African country.
The mission’s main objectives are to protect the civilian population, to ensure human rights are respected, to create the necessary conditions to ensure humanitarian aid and the return of displaced peoples, as well as to support the transitional political process. In order to do this, MINUSMA is primarily working with the main population centres and their lines of communication.
Through our distributor in Mali, Global Assistance, the UN has recently acquired Inmesol generator sets for various towns: Douentza, Ansongo, Ménaka, Tessalit and Timbuktu. Similarly, over the next few weeks two sets will be installed in Diabaly and a further eight in Gao.
MINUSMA was established by the UN Security Council in resolution 2100 of 25th April 2013.
